Website Monetization Can be Good for SEO

Website Monetization Can be Good for SEO

Website monetization can be good for SEO… You probably think I’m talking nonsense, but you will change your mind by the end of the article. We already talked about basic types of website monetization, so you should have a clear idea of what monetization is and how to implement it. If you are new just take a look at the right side of the blog, you will see ads and banners, when someone clicks or makes a purchase by following these links I earn some cash, which is the basic of website monetization. You click on the ads and I make money, sounds cool, but it is not as simple as that, but if you know what you are doing you will not only be able to earn some money, but you will also be able to increase your SEO efforts and reach new heights with organic traffic, let’s see how you can achieve that.

seo effortsSo what is the basic of monetization with affiliates and adsense, you have links on your website that point to other websites, right? That is the catch… Still not getting it? OK, you are linking to other websites, if you do that properly you will be linking to highly popular and most importantly, relevant websites. In some cases your website might even get featured on the websites you are linking to, that usually happens if you are a new affiliate or a top affiliate so your website is featured, with that you get a nice link back to your website. All of that adds to your profits and traffic levels.

The bottom line, affiliate marketing and various types of advertising on your site can have cool benefits, but if you are not careful they might also have negative effects, remember that Google doesn’t look too kindly on paid links, but in the end that can only affect your Page Rank which is not that important, but it will not affect your rankings in the SERP.

Adsense is a great way to get some highly targeted links going from your site, but in order to achieve that you need to write targeted posts that will attract the right type of ads. If you do it poorly the ads might e irrelevant, which can harm your website.

My personal favorite is affiliate marketing as you can choose which products and what type of service you feature on your blog or website, so you can basically choose who you link to. Again, in order to make the monetization and the SEO aspect work for you, you need to have a good SEO plan that will clearly state what you want to achieve with certain type of monetization.

Crucial things you need to consider when choosing the monetization strategy for your blog or website:

website monetizationThe most important thing you need to take into account is your visitors and what they will expect to see on your blog. We have all developed ad blindness, so most people will simply ignore the ads on your blog. The only way I will notice an ad is if I am looking for something specific, and so will most of the users, so what is that something specific. Taking my blog into consideration you will see that all of the ads are somewhat natural for my blog; I have a banner for SEO services, two banners for web hosting, mail chimp which is an auto responder, a very important tool for internet marketing and website success and a banner for my personal toolbar.

The next step to consider is in regards to your blog or website design, what is better suited, text ads or graphic ads like banners. You need to consider the overall look of your website and how those ads fit into the picture.

The last part you need to consider is what will influence your SEO efforts in the best way. You improve your SEO efforts by gaining links from relevant and popular websites, be sure to use monetization types that are pretty much consistent with your overall SEO efforts. Also consider what are the benefits of having certain ads on your blog besides making money from it.

What you need to aim for is pleasing your users and your community; always aim to provide something that will be useful for your visitors. You will never see me promoting a banner for casinos or Forex. You also need to consider the placement, but that falls under fitting the ads into your design. In the end you will probably have to experiment a bit to see what works best for your blog. If you aim your SEO plan towards providing the best content, services and products for your visitors you will eventually find the right combination that will get you higher profit, higher traffic and better rankings in the SERP.

    Hi Zarko:

Nice blog post you have here. It is the topic that have different opinions by bloggers. However, I feel that blog has to look presentable to give a good impression. For that too many colors (to me) give a confusing image. But still making money is also very important. So, I feel placing ads from popular sites is just fine and helps the blog in two ways, little bit of money and link. But even today, I know some people who do not like ads to their sites saying that it takes away the visitors attention.

So, in other words You have to do what you feel is good. And I feel displaying ads is really good. as I mentioned earlier.

So make it a good day for yourself

Thanks Lawmacs, the two go hand to hand for some. Fran made an excellent point.

“I know some people who do not like ads to their sites saying that it takes away the visitors attention. ”

That can be true, there are certain type of websites and blog I would never recommend to use affiliate links, that might hurt their business. but this applies for blogs and websites that sell their own product, for people like us who have informational blogs that offer knowledge this is the perfect choice.

In the end, the only reason why a person will leave your blog is because the blog was not satisfying to them or the ad offered them something better, so they can bitch all they want about banners getting visitors attention, if you provide valuable content no banner will sway them off it :)

Well, website monetization is the only thing that is good for SEO. It’s basically what SEO is all about.

I mean, what’s the point of getting thousands of visitors to your website, but not using some kind of CTA? It’s like getting a thousands people to come to your party – yet there’s no music playing. There has got to be some kind of action. Don’t you think?

    Think about it.

Zarko, this is a well written article. I agree on your points and I do think that affiliate marketing is a better choice if you were to choose between adsense and aff. marketing. To see good results, I agree, you need to focus on high quality and on popular websites. The buzz will spread like wildfire and you will find your website gain in rankings due to the back links that you get from these popular websites. Excellent post and hope that everyone will start implementing this now…
