I thought Caffeine was launched early last year, incorporated with ” Google Mayday”.

Anyway, It seems that a lot of awesome infographs are being published each week. You should check out singlegrain, they have some cool infographs there recently :D

yeah, technically the official published date was early, middle 2010, but it was runned for public in sandbox mode from August 2009, so we all had access to it. There was quite a buzz back than about Caffeine as I remember, announcements and what not. But yeah, the official date was 2010 for the whole world, so i guess they made a mistake!

    Hi Zarko,
I studied the information with great interest as I knew practically all facts but I didn’t know their presense on the time line.
But this infograph proves once again that Google is growing and will be the leader for some time ahead.

I really love history! Just last week, I enjoyed reading your post about Google’s imperfections and now, I have another bunch of info to store in my memory bank! I like the period of Exodus in search history because it reminded me of the Exodus told in the Bible – very unforgettable. Thanks for the share Zarko!

If you consider the original purpose of search engines and the models we have today, it looks like we have come very far. Now search engines have outgrown their basic social information warehouse service to a mufti billion marketing tool patronized by both consumers and producers. I think the two main challenges that confronts search algorithm developers today are spam websites and the ever increasing complexity of dynamic websites and how to index them comprehensively. I believe with time, they will overcome them. In sum, the SEs have done well by changing the face of the internet and providing instant access to millions of data and information which would have otherwise only be sourced by scouring books upon books.

nicely said :) I agree with you, Google and other search engines seem to overcome any obstacle that has been laid before them, I think they will overcome the spam issue as well as the complicity of the websites in time, unless websites become even more complicated, but I doubt it :)

I find it amazing how this history of search discussion clearly picture the sort of evolution of search engine. As we’re aware of, most search engines we are using now have that quality of usefulness compared before. Just for example how relevant results are now.
