Taking On a Personal Challenge and a Worldwide Challenge at the Same Time

It just happened that I got into two different challenges at the same time. For those of you that follow my blog you know that I was nominated for the Must Follow Personality of Mashable 4th Annual Awards, and I would very much like for you to vote for me.

4th annual mashable awards

4th annual mashable awards

The second challenge is a personal challenge that I got from Mark, a respected blogger and owner of the Secrets of Success Blog. The second challenge is about noting and writing down 50 things that we are grateful for each day for 21 days. Yeah, you got it right, that’s a total of 1050 things we are grateful for. It sounds too much and I can’t imagine coming up with that number, but starting today, or is it already yesterday, it’s late here, so starting 5th November I am going to try and write 50 things that I am grateful for, wish me luck.

Ok, with this one you can simply wish me luck and show support, but with the Mashable awards you can do much more, you can give me support by voting for me also during the next 20 days. You can vote following this link: Must Follow Personality Nomination. One vote per 24 hours until 29th November.

As Mark noted in the comment on my previous post about Mashable Awards there is a bit of confusion when you follow the link. You will be taken to a voting page, but in order to vote you first have to login using Twitter or Facebook, just click on login with one of these and then you will be taken to the page where you just click nominate, my name, link, will already be there.

So again, I like to thank Mark from Secrets of Success, Gary from Lawmacs blog and Fran from Fran’s Tips to be the first ones to show support and I would like to invite you to show your support in both of these challenges I decided to take.

Taking on a challenge is all about getting to know your limits and pushing far beyond that. Join me in these challenges and let us move the limits together.

    Hi Zarko:

I was trying to write you for a long time, but I was having problems with my blog post, not blog post, but technical problems. Any ways that is beside the point. When I mad it here I noticed a new post from you again. When I read the post I saw my name mentioned. Thanks for doing that. I did nominated you, but I have to do it once everyday, you keep supporting me telling me what categories to use so you may have batter chance to win. Nice post here.

  2. Zarko on November 7, 2010

Thanks for the support Fran :)

Sorry to hear that you had difficulties, i hope you got everything sorted out now.

    Hi Zarko,

I’m honored that you made a special mention of this month’s thanksgiving challenge on your blog. Thank you so much for announcing it to your readers. I’m really grateful to you for this kind deed.

Yesterday I published a new post related to the challenge, and it is meant to help us in coming up with the list of 1050 items. Do let me know what you think about it. I’m lagging as of today because I’ve had an extremely busy day, but going by the categories I’ve mentioned in the latest post, I think it is not going to be difficult to catch up.

Then, how is the “Worldwide Challenge” coming along? Can you see how many votes you have received so far, and where you stand as of now?

  4. Zarko on November 8, 2010

    Hi Mark,

no need to thank me, I really think you have a great idea and I wished to share it with my readers.

I skipped writing my grateful things for yesterday, had a busy Sunday… I will have to make it up somehow, will hop over to your blog post, maybe it will help me catch up :)

  5. Elise on November 10, 2010

Hi, Zarko, I came across your blog from Twitter. Looks like you have some great info here and congratulations on being nominated on Mashable. Thanks for sharing this post.

  6. Zarko on November 10, 2010

Hi Elise, thanks for commenting here, I also visited your blog and left a rather long comment on your Page Rank post. Hope you don’t mind me being honest even though it’s not that positive :)

  7. lawmacs on November 10, 2010

Good luck Zarko with both challenge running behind here just trying to catch up had a few busy couple of days i know you are caple of dealing with both challenge and by the way thanks for the mentioned and the continued support.

  8. Zarko on November 10, 2010

    Thank you Gary,

you are one of the few bloggers I would recommend any time of the day, and for a reason :)

  9. Mark of Success on November 10, 2010

    Hi Zarko,

Just wanted to let you know that I am with you on the thanksgiving challenge. Let’s just do our best. I think it is more in the process than it is in the outcome. When we keep thinking of items to add on the list, and try to find a reason to be thankful for, at every chance we get, it causes a shift of perspective that will go a long way in helping us have a better, more positive and more successful life. Let’s keep pushing!

  10. Zarko on November 10, 2010

You are right Mark, it’s more about doing this challenge than the outcome. the outcome will be positive however we look at it, the only difference will be if we actually go for the norm of 1050 things on the list or not :)

  11. Steve@Lifestyle Design on November 10, 2010

I voted. I should read the whole thing before I follow links. I ran into the same issue Mark had when trying to vote. Only to come back frustrated to find that you explained it PERFECTLY in the next paragraph. Oops! bad on me.

Any idea how you are doing in the polling, I was scanning through the list and I saw some pretty big names there.

I am also doing what I can do for Marks Daily challenge. It is not an easy one to think of 50 things daily…but it is really rewarding.

Good luck and I will keep trying to remember to vote if you keep reminding us. (it is 1 per 24hr I think, right)

    Good luck to you!

  12. Zarko on November 10, 2010

    Hi Steve,

thank you for the support, I really appreciate it. and yes, there are some big names, but so far in my category I have seen only one name being forced, others get the same treatment I do.

hobestly I have no clue how I’m faring against the others, I know that I get at least 300 votes daily, probably more because I can’t count you all, but how much that helps and where that places me compared to other I have no clue :)

  13. Mark of Success on November 14, 2010

    Hi Zarko,

Just voted for you again on Mashable. It would have been nice if they listed the ranking of those who are nominated, so that everyone would at least get an idea.

Regarding the thanksgiving challenge, I had my share of hiccups during the week. Was lagging seriously and have been having a very busy time, but managed to pick up a little bit over the weekend. Still lagging by about 3 days. Have been away from the blogosphere too,… This is just my second comment this weekend, the first being in response to a comment on my own blog :-)

Well, it’s already Sunday night here for me, so weekend is over already. Let’s see what the upcoming week has in store. Hope to catch up some more during this week. Less than two weeks remaining for Thanksgiving Day.

  14. Zarko on November 14, 2010

    Hi Mark,

we are in the same boat, I’m also about 3 days behind :)

i guess the busy schedule is what is my biggest issue, I should create a more friendly work week, I will have to ask Steve for help with that one as he seems to have it covered.

As for the Mashable awards, well I think most people would give up after a day or two if they knew where they were ranking, this is great, not knowing until the last minute makes me want to try and keep my hopes up :)

  15. Mark of Success on November 20, 2010

    Hi Zarko,

Time does fly, doesn’t it? Another week has just gone by, and it’s weekend time here for me already. Just wanted to let you know that this week has been damn busy, and I am lagging behind on the challenge like crazy! This weekend is going to decide whether I can catch up on things or whether it is going to be one not-as-successful-as-planned challenge.

I’m not giving up yet. Just hoping for the best! How’s the challenge coming along for you?

  16. Zarko on November 20, 2010

Probably worst than it is going for you, I think you couldn’t have picked worst timing to start this challenge :) I also don’t want to give up, but considering the amount of work I have and the fact that I was able to write only one new post in the last week certainly tell you what my situation is!

I’m cheering for you nonetheless :)

  17. Mark of Success on November 25, 2010

    Hi Zarko,

I found some nice flow of thoughts of gratitude, and I think I am doing pretty well for the challenge now. Might fall a bit short, but am not giving up until I get 1050 or more on the list, even if it takes a bit longer than scheduled.

Probably you are right in saying that it would have been nice to have the challenge at a less busy time. But then, I’m grateful that this challenge happened, and that at least we began the journey of gratitude.

I myself had a very busy fortnight. Didn’t post for two weeks, and then finally let one post out a couple of days ago. And today, I burnt the midnight lamp and just wrote a short post on thanksgiving.

I’ll try to complete my list by this weekend. You too try for it!

Here’s wishing you a thankful Thanksgiving Day! You are special to me, and I just wouldn’t let this opportunity go by without letting you know.

Thank you so much for being a part of the Secrets of Success community!

    Wishing you success,

  18. Zarko on November 25, 2010

Thank you Mark, I really appreciate those words :)

I think that it is obvious that I will fall short as well, probably more than you, but you just gave me the right inspiration, I don’t have to complete it in time but I will complete it eventually :)

  19. Mark of Success on November 30, 2010

    Hi Zarko,

Just thought I’d drop by and check on how you are doing with the thanksgiving challenge. I wrote a post summarizing my experience (though I admit it was a little long “summary”). Do check it out when you can make time.

Meanwhile, I hope you are making progress with your list. Most of all, I hope you are enjoying the process of getting there.
