For say, while guest blogging (the only ethical way to get some backlinks to your website), you should put less weight on keywords and more on branded terms. Engagement is what you need to attain and once it gains enough exposure, your website will start getting links from different sources almost naturally without any coercion from you.

    Michael although points you have listed are good but SEO professionals can’t help making site famous in social media nor they can help much in paid advertisements… so by these updates SEO professionals will lose … what say?

    Some great points, a couple of which I’d like to add my two cents to. The “rel=author” attribute is providing some pretty great ways to get noticed in the SERPs, as you mentioned. First of all, it provides immediate distinction from other results, and gives off a sense of authority over the subject you’re discussing, and helps with branding, being that you can link to other articles you’ve written. And speaking of branding, with Google now severely punishing unnatural link building, you’re absolutely correct in saying that guest posting bios should now focus on a branded, company specific keyword. If Google is punishing unnatural links, now is as good a time as any to refocus your link building efforts on branding to gain exposure and referral traffic.

    I’ve really enjoyed this read. You made some really feasable points, one that I enjoyed the most was how obtaining a top ranking, takes time. That’s for sure. Time it does take. That’s a hard fact, that is difficult for many clients, and SEOs to accept. Though, without time, a top ranking is not possible. I’ve personally never seen anyone rank a competitive keyword, without it taking months, and that’s not to mention getting stuck around page 3. what’s up with that?

    Social marketing is the new SEO. Do not try to reinvent the wheel. As new campaigns have a greater chance of success if you copy an already established campaign, including both social media and all the other know SEO techniques. But even proven strategies will unfortunately sometimes fail. The reason is pretty much a factor in the crowd that you have no control over.
