Google Analytics Real-Time

Google recently implemented real-time analytics beta, which means if you go to your dashboard you will see a link to real-time analytics that shows how many users you have on your site this second, which pages they are reading, where are they from, keywords, referrals and even page views per minute and second, which is just simple amazing.

We can now monitor our website and its performance live as it happens on the spot, which opens up a lot of opportunities to monitor user behavior and improve our knowledge of our visitors. Just think of the opportunities and knowledge we can gain.

Like it was suggested in the post on Analytics blog, there are a few ways that come from the top of the mind in which we can use this brand new update. One thing is to measure the social media impact the moment we publish a post. The common practice is to tweet, share on Facebook and Google+ or other social networks you use, with this you can see the actual result of your influence and how people react to your shares. Also, this will help us see the time frame in which social sharing works, which gives us immediate knowledge of when to start sharing again and engaging the direct audience for better impact.

You can use the real-time feature only on the new version of Analytics, so if you haven’t switched yet, this is the right time, a real incentive to do so. This update will give us the hardly anticipated and desired insight into user behavior, things we only guessed so far will now be clear as day, a new era of analytics is before us.

But real-time analytics is not the only new thing that came with the new version of analytics; we can now create advanced segments right on the spot, even if we have no knowledge. User behavior and engagement is more transparent than it was, you can see how why your bounce rate is so high, map out the path users take, it is all there. So if you are new to SEO do yourself a favor and get familiar with Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools, they will make your webmaster life a whole lot easier.

If you have some ideas on how we can use the new real-time feature let us know in the comments, we would like to hear your thoughts.

One way that I like to use these reports is to measure the immediate impact of social media. Whenever we put out a new blog post, we also send out a tweet. With Real-Time, I can see the immediate impact to my site traffic.

I haven’t tried the new version of Analytics before and based on your article Zarko the new features are great. The Real-Time feature is a good tool to track the activities of your visitors and help you analyze and adjust your website according to your visitors behavior.
